ACTUALITY

The growing global demand for food poses one of the greatest challenges for agriculture: to produce more efficiently and sustainably. To achieve this goal, it is essential to reduce reliance on conventional pesticides and adopt safer and more sustainable alternatives for crop protection. An analysis of 1,700 scientific studies confirms that pesticides are one of the main causes of the biodiversity crisis. Overuse of pesticides not only threatens beneficial organisms essential to the biological balance, but also accelerates the development of resistance, making chemical treatments less effective and crops more vulnerable. Bioprotection has emerged as a solution to this challenge, promoting safer, more efficient and sustainable agriculture. By reducing the use of synthetic chemicals, we protect biodiversity and ensure healthier food without compromising productivity.

Different from conventional fungicides, Kiplant Metacare is an innovative biofungicide, developed for the effective control of Botrytis cinerea, Stemphylium spp. and Monilia spp. Kiplant Metacare has a multifunctional mode of action, based on three main mechanisms:

Protective colonization of plant tissues: It forms a physical barrier in plant tissues and prevents pathogens from settling by competing for space and essential nutrients.
Production of active metabolites: It produces biocide compounds that inhibit the growth and spread of fungi and bacteria.
Activation of natural defenses: Activates the plant's natural defense mechanisms by inducing the salicylic acid and jasmonic acid cycles, increasing plant resistance to pathogens.

The results of this trial show that the biofungicide effect was evident in the crop, reducing the incidence of Botrytis cinerea, especially at a dose of 5L/ha, where 100% efficacy was observed.

The application of Kiplant Metacare at a dose of 4L/ha reduced the incidence of Botrytis cinerea in pepper, with an efficiency 16% higher than the control plot.

EUROPEAN SUSTAINABILITY AWARD FOR SMES

We are very proud to announce that we have won the European Sustainability Award for SMEs! An initiative of Generali Tranquilidade, which recognizes the best sustainability practices in Portugal, promoting innovative and environmentally responsible business models. We are honored by this distinction, which reaffirms our commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the environment.

BIOFAGO PROJECT

We hosted a strategy meeting for the BioFago Project - “New strategies to control fire blight” (PRR funding). This meeting brought together the organizations involved to analyze the progress of the project and define the next steps. As partners in this innovative project, we contribute to the development of a cutting-edge biotechnological solution, capable of stopping the growing threat of bacterial fire – a disease that affects crops such as pear and apple trees, caused by the bacterium Erwinia amylovora.

CHERRY TECHNICAL CONFERENCE

We organized the Cherry Technical Conference at the Fundão Professional School, Portugal. An event with a large audience, where the most innovative strategies for cherry production were discussed, with the highlight being the presentation by Christian Gallegos - an Agronomy Consultant specializing in cherry cultivation in Chile, which dealt with “Management strategies for quality fruit”.
